Scouting Sorties: Target Slime - Polyedit2000 - 04-13-2026
While following a mountain trail, you come across a hole-in-the-wall tavern sporting a wooden signage of "Scout's Honor". It seems to be a good spot to have a break, so you peek inside this inn with an interior and musk that reminds you of mushrooms growing in a cave. This seems to be a convenient stop for miners of different races buried in their drinks served by pretty goblins in waitress dresses scurrying around with trays and rags. Behind the bar was a lithe human woman with golden hair, the owner of this fine establishment.
It seems that the mission board on the wall didn't have much missions, though a goblin was putting on a few drawings of missing people.

Sean a cloaked blonde, buff twinky white man with a green speedo in his cloak. Peered in. He was a thief, he cleared his throat. “Uh… hey everyone where can i order!”

Another patron entered the tavern. She was a tan-skinned lady in Egyptian garb standing at 7'4" tall and having an impressively busty appearance. She carried a fancy scepter with an ankh at the head. Her forearms and calves are wrapped in bandages. Her name is Rawurrah. She approached the owner of the tavern. "My, aren't you a cutie~?" Rawurrah gave the owner headpats.

"Y-you can't just greet strangers like that!" The owner pushed Rawurrah's arm away as she hid a blush. "A-anyway, just grab a free table and one of the gobs will take your order."
It was only after Sean and Rawurrah gravitated to the bar that she realized that the other tables still had patrons or hadn't been cleaned yet. Instead, the owner motioned a goblin maid over as she went to fill up the complimentary grog. The goblin that had been hanging up the missing posters still had one in her hand as she hopped onto a nearby stool. "So would you be havin the goblin menu or the dwarven menu? I can suggest you the Gritty Grub Stew made from many veggies and meats of the mountain and simmered for many hours, our Warty Toad Pies with lots of meats and veggies below a flakey crust that gives the not-toad pie its playful name, and Slime Soup made with various herbs and magical leaves if you want to go light on meat. We also server Mountain Nectar made from local flowers and Fungal Flights from our carefully selected mushrooms."
"And from the dwarven menu, we serve rocks and ale." (The goblin later explained the actual dwarven menu which seems to be closer to traditional pub food.)

Sean smiled then ordered “Gritty grub stew please!” He then looked at the Rawurrah, “What brings you here?”

"I figured a nice trip away from my own palace in the Dunebound Desert would be nice~" Rawurrah said. "Excuse me a moment, scruffy." With a gentle gesture from her staff, Rawurrah gently lifted the goblin hanging the posters up. "How about a little boost, sweetie~?" Yeah, it turns out the huge chick is a spellcaster.

Sean laughed then muttered “lucky!” Then he said out loud “you must be quite the powerful mage, eh! I can probably be of use to you maybe… wanna team up?”

"Ack!" The goblin dropped the poster on the bar as the spell lifted her into the air. The owner set the grog in front of the party as she snatched the flailing goblin from the air, handing the frazzled goblin to two other goblins that take her into the cellar. The owner glared at Rawurrah.
"Honestly, haven't you heard about the wand safety rules? Don't trust a wand pointed at you and don't go pointing wands at people. Do that again and...Just don't." The owner considered the size difference and decided finishing that statement wasn't threatening, so she just shook her head and went over to what could be the stew pot.
The poster on the bar showed a sketch of a girl in fighter garb. The drawing wasn't professional, but the poster mentioned that she and her party were tasked to clear a slime sighting in a mine but haven't resurfaced in three days.

Rawurrah chuckled. "Such an adorable little brown-noser~" Rawurrah grabbed the poster real quick. "Oh, what's this?" Rawurrah looked it over. "Well, at least the picture looks slightly better than the paintings put in the tombs of my land... Though I can't say that's really saying much~ Hmhm~" Rawurrah looked it over some more, then paused. She looked across from her and asked Sean, "Say, Scruffy... Are you familiar with the act of mining? You know, the art of hitting rocks to get coal and other resources like that~?"

Sean chuckled then replied in a hushed voice “I remember pickpocketing diamonds from miners but thats it unfortunately,”

"That still helps a little... Heheh. Maybe when you get yourself a pickaxe, you can really get the shinies~" Rawurrah roughed up Sean's hair playfully. "Although I don't think slimes are exactly a resource....Hmm..." Rawurrah then turned to the owner. "Excuse me, whats-your-name. These slimes... Are they like those cute little guys that bounce around, or are they one of those guys that turn stuff into skeletons?"

"Just call me Scout." The owner placed the stew in front of Sean. It looked gritty but it doesn't seem to have grubs in it. "You'd have to ask one of the miners that worked there for more details, but they simply couldn't drive it off with pickaxes or torches, which is why they hired that party afterwards."
Scout decided to clarify the poster content. "Anyway, the request is more to see if they finished that quest. Simply a confirmation if the monster's dead or not is enough for a small finder's fee, though if you find the party or if you finish the quest in their place, a report will be sent to the guild with proper response and payment."

Just then a tarot reader with glasses overheard everything she had tight purple jeans and white crop top,she also had an old fashioned notebook for writing, this was lena. She wrote “HEY IM INTERESTED TOO!”

"Ah~! A mute mystic~ That's an interesting choice. Welcome~" Rawurrah stood up. "Lemme chat up one of the folks here for a moment." Rawurrah looked around. "Ah, that one looks like they've been digging holes~" Rawurrah sauntered over to one of the miners. "Pardon me, comrade~ It seems you got a bit of a slime problem, no?" Rawurrah put the poster on the table. "What could you tell me about the slimes in this part of the world?"

"Well lassie, slimes tend to get a texture from a wee bit of food and 'producing in the local parts, so when you got somewhat that eats rocks and ores in the mountains, it's best to drop the metal and use somewhat that they can't eat like spells. Well, we're assuming it eats rocks." Turns out that the miner Rawurrah chose was the type to remember bits of trivia when filled, and he took another swig. "Anyway, the one in the mine's as big as a man and angry, can't miss it. Which be odd, considering we shouldn't be finding it."
A goblin waitress serves a complimentary grog to Lena.

"Ah! That's mighty nice of ya~ I'll tell the others~" Rawurrah picked the poster up and made her way back to Sean and Lena. "So, that dwarven guy was quite a bit of help. So uh, the slimes in these parts function based on their dietary habits. They're under the assumption that the slime problem came from a slime that's big as a man and eats rocks." Rawurrah turned to Lena. "Mute Mystic, you should be Gucci for sure. I got magic on me, so I should be able to do some real kiting for you two~" Rawurrah then turned to Sean. "Although, Scruffy... If you're the run-of-the-mill rogue, you may need to ditch the daggers; I got the vibe that a slime that eats rocks and ores would eat refined metal as well. Might you be interested in alternatives like kali sticks or tonfa, for example? I can make a quick run to the armory for you if you'd like~"

Sean reassured, “no need to, ive already gotten a wooden bo staff, in case this thing would happen,we should make our way to meet this slime.”

"I wouldn't be so quick about it~" Rawurrah replied. "The cute owner did say killing a monster wouldn't give us any noticeable reward for this excursion. I think we should try prioritizing finding this fighter fellow and their party. We'll most likely run into the slime along the way~"
