When you're tied up, gagged, and locked in a cage, seconds seem like minutes, and minutes seem like hours. Julia was beginning to feel like she'd been in that damn cage for days.
To pass the time a little and at the same time annoy her jailer, bottomless tomboy began to knock on the bars with an metal bar that held her legs apart. She tried to make the rhythm she created as annoying and unpleasant to the ear as possible.
