Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Flashlight237 - 11-01-2024

((As an exercise on player agency, I decided to make an RP based on Polyedit2000's semi-linear roguelike deals like Gooey Gamble and Anonymated Rubbery Rooms. Take that for what you will.))

You find yourselves bound in Typesuits in types of your choice. Whether that be the standard sack Typesuits or the more mobile Padded Typesuits. I'll provide pictures of them to see what you're getting yourselves into:
[Image: dgzj9cm-bd9d59ae-2ab6-4aee-9951-4bb55e15...8Rx7hfq-6Y][Image: dg3ryob-d953124d-0ac0-4cb6-9983-acfea593...eGgSWQXcig]

You find yourselves in a big room. Off to the left side, you see what looked to be a metal tube the size of a phone booth with a rainbow on top. This would be a changing station to allow you guys to change into whatever other type you think fits you or would make for a more interesting run. After all, doesn't hurt to mix things up. To the right you see some sort of item shop. Of course.

Then, in front of you is a corridor going down ahead. In front of the corridor is Hilda wearing a Dragon-type Padded Typesuit. You may take your time here.

((Note: Rogue-likes typically have a no cell-phones policy, so fair warning on that. It's kinda like the Battle Tower things where there's a no-Pokedex policy. I will offer accommodations where needed. Also, another note I wanna add, I'm not a fan of GiD (guys in distress), so I prefer you peeps to play as girls))

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Bound cat - 11-01-2024

A chubby and slightly awkward girl named Masha looked around in a daze, trying to figure out where she was. She was wearing a pink padded suit.
After looking around the room and gathering her courage, she timidly approached Hilda: “Ummm... excuse me… Can I talk to you?”

((Um, bro, I don't think you read the OP or the information I've given you in the DMs. I wrote that you guys are bound specifically in Typesuits, which look like this for the standard Typesuits: https://www.deviantart.com/flashlight237/art/Complete-Typesuit-Set-941240621

Or this for Padded Typesuits: https://sta.sh/21cvz2nnbqiu

That's not mentioning the thread title "Elemental Gauntlet", which strongly suggests that the setting is elemental in nature.

A pig outfit doesn't fit the setting, not to mention it would come off as rude especially in this day of age. Try reading this up first: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Type ))

((This is a suit of the second type, but in a pink shade. On the second link, it is called the "Fairy Typesuit". I removed the additional accessories from the post))

((Thank you. For future reference, I recommend specifying the type you're wearing. In any case...))

Okay, Masha. Let's get a good look at ya... Hmmm...

You are wearing a Padded Typesuit. As a result, you have better mobility, but your attacks will have less range. Keep this in mind.

As you are wearing a Fairy Typesuit, you feel a gentle mistiness flowing through your body true to the mystic and magical nature of the Fairy Type. The movements you make feel like a glistening breeze. You feel that whatever dragon you face will fall before you. And yet here you are, right in front of one.

Hilda, in her royal blue Dragon Typesuit, happily greeted you. "Hello! How may I help you?"

Just than the mute lena woke up and immediately felt like she was still dreaming she saw so many pokemon babes to chat to . She was in a grass padded typesuit that had a screen in the centre that read words based on her thoughts . Cutting edge tech!

Unfortunately, Typesuits are not on that level (they're just fabric; what did you expect? Plus the workings of the Fire, Electric, and Ice Typesuits might make screens a bad idea); in fact, the center of the thing is just the Grass-type emblem, no screen of any kind. However, it seems clear that you want to communicate telepathically. Here. Let me accommodate you.

To allow you to communicate, Lena, you are given a psychic ability that lets you speak physically as technology is out of your reach at this time. Think of yourself as that one Slowking from Pokemon The Movie 2000.

As for your Typesuit... It seems that you have chosen the Padded Typesuit. As a result, you have better mobility, but your attack range is shorter, just like Masha.

As you are wearing a Grass Typesuit, you feel the gentle brushing of grass and leaves, as if you are in a meadow. There is also the lovely scent of pine that comes with the Grass Typesuit. The natural feeling of the Grass Typesuit gives you a freeing sense of comfort even in the confines of the fabric.

You see Masha talking with Hilda. Perhaps you should get some info off Hilda.

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Hisbraingoingthrough - 11-01-2024

Lena walked up to hilda and telepathically siad “hey is there any infos i can get from the suits.”

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Flashlight237 - 11-01-2024

Hilda saw Lena speak with the voice Lena perceived in Lena's imagination. That's the workings of Slowking's anatomically-applied telepathy, which was achieved thanks to the magic of the Typesuits (as otherwise, I don't think Lena would've been able to speak). Getting the first question, Hilda explained... "Of course there is! So here's the deal.

Typesuits are elemental restraints made out of a special canvas fabric that is made out of an interweave of cotton and the silk of Tarountula, whose silk is the toughest known fiber in the Pokemon world. A Scyther can cut through a tree that's one meter thick, yet its attacks bounce off Tarountula's silken ball without leaving a dent in it. There are 19 different Typesuits, ranging from the plain Normal Type to the long-lost ??? Type. Each Typesuit comes with its own unique set of abilities based on the type they represent.

There are two different types of Typesuit. The first Type is the standard Typesuit, which is like a snug sleepsack that seals your entire body. This Typesuit was first created by Katchepsut (note that Katchepsut is the name of a modern-day gym leader in this context), who modeled the Typesuit after magical burial shrouds wrapped over mummies from thousands of years ago. This Typesuit limits your mobility just like a sleepsack would, BUT you will get more range out of your attacks.

The other kind of Typesuit is the Padded Typesuit. These guys are a more recent development, created just shortly after the creation of the Typesuit. They come with a thick set of diapers wrapped around your hips. These diapers act as a sort of cushion against blows. They provide better mobility; however, they provide less attack range. It's definitely an upside from what would otherwise be an embarrassing garment.

Is there anything else you'd like to ask?"

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Hisbraingoingthrough - 11-01-2024

Hilda would think lena accept in a thick polish accent . “Yes thanks are there any battles we do how can we expect to catch pokemon in this.”

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Flashlight237 - 11-01-2024

"Oh! That's the neat part. You don't catch Pokemon here.

However, you mention battles... Here, let me go over what you will go through in this place.

With each door you come across, you will come across two things: a Type Symbol and a Challenge Star. The Type Symbol is of course the theme of the challenge that you'll go through. As for the Challenge Stars, you will see Challenge Stars of different colors.

The Red Challenge Star indicates combat. There, you will need to fight whatever opponent is in this room.
The Blue Challenge Star indicates skill. Take on an obstacle course or solve a puzzle based the room offers.
The Yellow Challenge Star indicates interaction. Chat with the person in the room or take on their request.
The Green Challenge Star indicates intelligence. Take on a small trivia challenge based on the type presented.
The Purple Challenge Star indicates talent. Put on a show with the Typesuit you're in and see how well you perform.
Occasionally, you may come across a Gold Challenge Star. The challenges are randomized, BUT you will get an increased reqard if you complete the room.
Finally, you may see a room that has a rainbow star. This is where you will get an upgrade to your Typesuit.

Is there anything else you'd like to ask?"

Lena declined and headed off.

She decided to sit down and observe her surroundings

Sitting there, you see... Well, pretty much the same thing as written in the OP. If you took a good look at the corridor, you would see out in the distance the halves of two doors: one that's green with the Grass-type symbol and the other orange with the Fire-type symbol. The fact that you can only see half of each door indicates that there is more in the room where the doors stand, which is beyond the corridor.

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Hisbraingoingthrough - 11-01-2024

Lena decided to approach the grass door since obviously fire beats grass and she wanted a fair chance.

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Flashlight237 - 11-01-2024

Okay, you approach the corridor, then make your way through. Once you got into the room with the two doors proper, you could see that instead of two doors, there are actually four. The two doors you couldn't see from the main area thanks to the narrow corridor were a beige door with the Normal-type symbol and a blue door with the Water-type symbol.

Now that you have the four doors in front of you, you can choose whichever of the four you want to go through at the start. If you want to go it alone, you may go through one of the doors now. OR, if you prefer to form a party, you can wait there and see if Masha wishes to tag along.

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Hisbraingoingthrough - 11-01-2024

She decides to wait for masha.

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Bound cat - 11-02-2024

- “Uhm… I am very embarrassed to ask this, but could you help me a little?" - Masha, blushing, asked Hilda. “You see, It looks like someone played a cruel and not at all funny joke on me I woke up in this place and I was wearing this weird straitjacket with a diaper. And I'm afraid I can't get rid of it without help.”

"Have you tried the changing booth over there?" Hilda asked, turning her head towards the cylindrical metal tube described earlier.

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Bound cat - 11-02-2024

- “No!" - Masha replied decisively. And then she added sheepishly, “I mean, I don't know.… You see, I sometimes walk in my sleep.”

RE: Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike - Flashlight237 - 11-02-2024

"Why don't you head on over there and have a look?

Before you do, is there anything else you need to know?"
