Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-03-2026

Welcome to the Gloopy Gamble Playtest.  This is lightly inspired by Slay the Spire-type roguelikes, though some elements are based on Ero Slayers (made by the person who did Ero Dungeons and Ero Hunters).  We'll be testing both the new mechanics of the upcoming RP as well as my ability to run a RP on this schedule.  For this session, please only use one character per player.

Here is the template for your character:

Quote:Name:
Class: (Mainly flavor.  Ideal to use one element here.)
Enchanted Weapon: (This allows the player to attack even when bound but has no starting buff. One can be provided or enchanted if requested.)
Enchanted Armor: (Everyone starts with a dress/top and bottom, shoes and undergarments; an accessory or replacement with a minor enchantment is placed here.)
Key Skill:  (You start with equal amounts of Attacks and Guards.  The Key Skill represents the idea of your skills.)
Boon:  (You will be granted one of four options- More Resource, Skill Modification, Skill Addition, and Equipment Addition.  The gain is randomly determined.)

Your character's default skills are considered "Chaste", aka not perverse.  You will find some perverse skills and even specialized equipment during your journey, but that's a bit in the future.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-03-2026

First of all, welcome back, GM.

Second of all, before I jump in, I'd like to ask a few questions about the setting. I'll keep them basic. In regards to elements, what is there to work with in your setting? Second of all, in terms of character sheets (i.e. the template provided), where would you prefer we keep them?

Lastly, would you prefer a narrative style or a more gamelike style (ex. rolling when told to roll)?

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-03-2026

Elements don't have any advantage or disadvantage over different types of enemies.  The elements are one factor to determine future skills, though admittedly some elements would favor a related status effect like Fire and Burn.

For this playtest, the Template is posted here.  In the actual play, there will be a RP Info topic to track changes among the characters as well as progress.

There is no dice-rolling on your end, and dice-rolling would be rare on my end.  Thankfully, there are no numbers to worry about either.   Hopefully the combat system should explain how things work.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-03-2026

Thank you for your response. I'll come up with something shortly.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-04-2026

Name: Jackie Olivia Lanchester
Class: Nature-element Warrior
Enchanted Weapon: A pitchfork. She's a farmer; what did you expect?
Enchanted Armor: Ten-gallon hat, white shirt, overalls, tan shoes.
Key Skill: Not sure at the moment.
Boon: More Resources

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-04-2026

Hm, I suppose the template needs work:

Enchanted Armor: Only one item is needed here, which I assume is the hat.  So far, the starting enchants I've seen is restoring a bit of health after combat or starting with one more energy for the first turn only.  For this demo, though, I'll skip it.

Clothing:  I'll place the rest of your starting clothing here.  Enchanted version is not placed here.  Note that the list I'll use for tracking in Info will look a bit different.

Key Skill:  In Ero Slayer, the Ice Mage had a Vulnerable-debuff attack, which had other icy attacks apply that as well as Weakness.  The Pyromancer had a Lucky Shot, which increased the chance for her skills to have an additional effect by one point.

Skills Suggestion:  This may replace Key Skill to make things easier.  For example, here's a list for the Pyromancer:
- Skills have a chance to trigger an additional effect.
- Sweat, a Curse for strong cards.
- Remove a piece of equipment to gain benefits.
- Burn, a DoT that deals damage at end of turn.

Some of the terms revealed here will be explained during the combat demo.

---

I'll give it another day to see any other volunteers.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-04-2026

Fair enough.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-05-2026

Alright, no more players beyond this point.  As much as I wanted to test how multiplayer goes, I suppose we'll see how a regular journey goes first.  Just let me slip into something for this RP...

---

"Alright missy, I'm Bub the Glub and this is the Goooooopy Gamble!"  A green slime that seemed to be made mostly of a toothy grin looked down from his makeshift throne of rocks.  "Normally, I'd just point you to one of the four holes where you'll start your journey, but my colleague pointed that they're still working out the rescue system and so you'll be going down a short tunnel instead.  It'll be an easier rescue for us...ideally."

Bub points to a hole behind him.  "Now, legal disclaimer time.  These holes have a strange energy that suppresses anyone that enters.  No matter how strong or weak they are, previous entries say that they're back to starting levels, with all their skills and enchantments brought down (or up) to the bare minimum, and it seems that any weapon you bring in will be enchanted so that it can be used to fight without holding it.  Don't worry, everything will be back to normal once you get out of the hole...mostly.  That's because the only Rewards you get from the Goopy Gamble are the ones you get from the Bosses.  Now then, ascend!"

And by ascend, Bub pulls on a rock that triggered a spring trap beneath Jackie, launch her into the tutorial hole!  She could feel something flow over her, no doubt the re-enchantments the blob was talking about.  It seems that the pitchfork she had let go in a panic kept up with her like she was holding it with a third arm, and her had felt like it would help her after a bit of work.  In addition, it seems that the Resource Boost she had chosen because a HP Boost, which made her feel like she could take one an extra smack or two.  And then came the ground.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-05-2026

Jackie rolled along the ground in a cartoonish fashion upon landing before coming to a halt. Now sitting, Jackie wobbled in a daze as comical stars orbited her head with a tweeting sound associated with them. Then, Jackie shook her head. "Dadgum alien threw me off-guard..!" Jackie, then stood up and brushed herself off. "Well, no going back now unless I die... Or whatever this place's definition of 'die' is." Jackie adjusted her hat, then grabbed her pitchfork. Jackie stood six feet one-and-a-half inches tall if one were to exclude the ten-gallon hat atop her head. Her short orange hair is tied into pigtails, and her bright blue eyes looked quite peachy! Her figure is... Well, above average in terms of figure, but not overly curvy like Tohru in the bust department or (inexplicably) Lyra in the hips department. She's more like our real-world's idea of above-average.

Clenching the pitchfork in her hands, Jackie looked around, hoping the coast is clear. No idea what she's doing holding the dang thing, but it isn't like she can exactly see magic right now. She'll have to see in... Probably the first combat opportunity she gets with how astonished she was getting yeeted into the tunnel.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-06-2026

A small white fox approached Jackie, its tail trailing like a vapor.  "It seems that you have survived, but that is not your first trial.  This is."

The fox moved behind Jackie as a rabbit girl pounced into the room.  "Don't bother reasoning with that rabbit.  It is consumed by a madness like the rest of the denizens here.  That weapon of yours is the key to defeat it."

---

Jackie may or may not see 5 motes of light flicker at the tip of her pitchfork, which had three glowing tips.  "Each turn, your weapon brings out 5 'Cardinals of Survival', though you can hold 10 of them at any given time.  Most of these 'Cards' will be sent into a reservoir to regain their charge whether you use these abilities or not, though they'll be ready to be used again after you cycle through your Cards.  Right now, you got a good mix of your basic 'Stab' and 'Block'.  However, you only have 3 'Energies of Survival' to channel through your Cards; attempting to channel more than that won't empower your weapon, and you cannot save Energy for the next plan of action."

The fox looked at the rabbit girl.  "By the way, your weapon has accelerating your thinking time, so the rabbit won't be attacking yet, but time will resume for it between the exchange of hands.  You should also be able to tell what the rabbit's next plan of action is; it plans to increase its Strength."

"I trust that your plan of action is straightforward..."

((Summary: You have 5 cards of attack and defend, and 3 Energy, each card costing 1 Energy. You can use all three Energy in a post, though for certain card effectslike drawing and generation, you may want to wait until the next post to maximize your benefits. After you have run out of Energy and usable cards or you have decided to END TURN, the enemy will act.))

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-06-2026

"Alright, don't rizz up the rabbit that went through one too many games of Call of Cthulhu. Got it!" Did she? We'll see. Jackie took note that the rabbit is trying to gather strength. She made her first move. "Get off ma property!" Jackie thrust the pitchfork at the rabbit, using an Attack card in order to interrupt the rabbit's effort to gather strength. Whether it would work or not, it was worth a shot.

Then, Jackie had the two remaining motes of energy imbue themselves into her pitchfork as she got herself into a guarding position, readying her defenses.

End Turn

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-06-2026

The rabbit was surprised by the strike but it was not enough to take away from its goal; to imbue itself with Strength.  It seemed ready to punch her.

At the same time, Jackie could feel that the defense she set up for the next turn...had vanished.

"I assume you had been planning to keep your guard up.  However, most of those cards have instantaneous effects, and like Energy, you can't keep the defense up forever.  That's why...you should prioritize guarding when you see the enemy planning an attack."  The fox studied the next set of Cards.  "Ah, it seems that, among the Stab and Blocks you have, you also have a good Attack Card 'Sheer', a card that gets stronger after gaining Block.  Perhaps you can strike and have the rabbit hurt your health, but it is better to Block as much as possible since you may not find a healing spot nearby."

"Also, you might have noticed that the rabbit had gotten strong.  Strength is one of the Status Effects that affects its user, whether good or bad, though the two most prominent ones are Strength that affects your Attacks and Composure that affect the Block you gain."

((I provided your Key Skill, Sheer, deals damage equal to your Block))

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-06-2026

"Welp! That could have been nice to know." Thankfully, the moment when the rabbit is planning to attack her was right now. Of course without any Block, she couldn't really use Shear, so no point trying it now. It'll have to be the next turn. And so... Jackie made her next move. "Take this!" Jackie went for her next attack, Jackie's first attack jabbed the rabbit, then her next attack stabbed the rabbit with a motion similar to scooping hay. Then, it was time for defense... With her last more of energy, Jackie readied a block.

End Turn

Bound cat poly already said no new players the entry point.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Bound cat - 04-06-2026

Okay. I deleted my post.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Polyedit2000 - 04-06-2026

It seems that the rabbit was weaker than expected as it fell before it could punch.  The fox chirped.  "It seems weaker than expected.  Oh well, you can do what you wish with its body, though I recommend taking its money and ca-"

The room pulsed.

"...Oh dear.  It seems that the dungeon is re-adjusting itself.  A rare occurrence, but nothing to worry about."  The fox bounded up to Jackie.  "It's more that the dungeon wants to make this experience enjoyable and survivable. Hm...perhaps..."

The fox grabbed Jackie's Sheer card and bounded into the next room, which had the symbol of a ? above it.

RE: Gloopy Gamble Playtest - Flashlight237 - 04-07-2026

"Man," Jackie said. "Just one round'a combat and already this place is going haywire..." Jackie took whatever loot the rabbit dropped, then walked up to the next room. Looking up at the "?" symbol at the door, Jackie raised an eyebrow. "Now what in tarnation?" Jackie was a little suspicious, but she went into the room regardless.

((Ending this Playtest.  Getting in 1-3 replies per day doesn't seem like the pace I want for a long RP.))

((Kinda hoping for more myself, but there was only so much I can do on my own. Hopefully HisBrain and Bound Cat among others will tag along.))

((I'm afraid my pace would have been even slower.))
