Ya know, being the most active member of this forum made me think... So far, I've seen through the following ranks...
0-star: Observer. Do absolutely nothing like you're Luigi.
1-star: Initiate. 1-49 posts
2-star: Apprentice. 50-??? posts.
What else is there, anyhow?

Since you brought that up, I have changed the rankings:
Initiate: Rank 0 - posts
Apprentice: Rank 1 - 40 posts
Disciple: Rank 2 - 100 posts
Adept: Rank 3 - 250 posts
Master: Rank 4 - 625 posts
Virtuoso: Rank 5 - 1565 posts
Should a sizable amount of people get to the last ranking, I'll think about adding more ranks.
Anyway, the fantasy behind these rank titles are mage rankings, as if we are learning to become rubber mages ourselves.

Can I get an update on this? I dunno when I got Rank 4, but I am now.

Wouldn't a more well-rounded number like 1500 be better?

Looks like there's another update to all this. Adept is replaced with Student, Master is replaced with Journeymage and Virtuoso is replaced with Expert.

Changed the number and progression of ranks and the amounts to get them. Here is the new table:
Novice - 0 posts
Beginner - 50
Apprentice - 100
Student - 200
Journeymage - 400
Expert - 800
Master - 1600
Grandmaster - 3200
Sage - 6400

Update
So a small change to the forum's ranking system is made.
Addition: New 4-Star rank, "Honor Student," is added. To get this rank, you must get 350 posts
Change: All ranks from Journeymage to Sage got one additional star.
Change: The following rankings had their post requirements changed:
Journeymage: 400->500
Master: 1600->1500
Grandmaster: 3200->3000
Sage: 6400->5000

So some changes to the forum's ranking system is made.
Addition: Virtuoso Ranking (7-Star); obtained at 1250 posts
Addition: Guardian Ranking (8-Star); obtained at 1750 posts
Change: Master, Grandmaster, and Sage are now 9-star, 10-star, and 11-star respectively
Change: The following rankings had their post requirements changed:
Master: 1600->2400
Change: Changes to the post requirements for Grandmaster were reverted.
