Scouting Sorties: Target Slime

Lena wrote down, “ILL TRY TO MAKE A BEACON WITH MY CARDS SO THAT THE OTHER ADVENTURERS CAN FIND THEM.”. She then made a beacon giving away their location.

"Good call," Rawurrah replied. "Hmm... You know, I'm starting to think those adventurers came across a different slime from a rock-eating slime. A slime that eats rocks and ore would have eaten metal, yet those metal pickaxe heads are still intact... Yet I didn't see any handles, which are usually wooden. I think the slime the fighter and their party went after was actually an herbivorous slime since wood is a plant." Rawurrah turned to Sean and Leah. "But what would something herbivorous be doing in a mine?"

Sean smiled “maybe its gone vegan i bet…” “what do you want me to do?”

"Mystic, you have a Tarot set, right? Why don't you use The Lovers on Scruffy real quick?"

"I think that should help us maintain communication between him and us through your magic. In any case... Scruffy, why don't you scout on ahead and look for any plant life in this cave? As for you, Mystic, why don't the two of us hide behind a rock? A lot of stuff can be drawn to a light, so if my hypothesis is right... The slime I'm thinking about should eat the crates and the plant material in the bottles while leaving behind the bottles."

Sean agreed abd wandered off in search of botany,while lena hid behind a rock.

Rawurrah hid with Lena. "And now, we wait..."

((The known areas are marked with black outlines. After that, there was the web of tunnels, which I've interpreted to mean they could lead to anywhere. I only put a rough idea of a web of tunnels in a gray outline.))

Sean's journey through one of the tunnels didn't really bear root as he didn't see any plant life, only passing by a room with an alchemist set-up of a desk, several bottled ingredients and a crystal ball.

The girls didn't have to wait long as the slime in question appeared from another tunnel, a kind that had two beady eyes and moved on many "feet", though it seemed to be slightly bigger than an average human.  However, it didn't approach the crates but rather look around the room, possibly trying to hear as well.

Man... That sucker is supposed to be the slime? Rawurrah thought. It doesn't look very bright.

Sean kept looking around in search of the slime… “so lena did you find him yet?”

Lena wrote “WHAT DO YOU THINK?”

Sean said “all i can find is a lame crystal ball and a chemistry desk with bottles”.

"Got anything from Scruffy?" Rawurrah whispered to Lena.

"A crystal ball?" Rawurrah replied in a whisper. "Mystic, you're a mystic, right? You should be able to make use of a crystal ball if you get to it."

"I'd say wait until the slime passes by. For now, relay the idea over to Scruffy." Rawurrah whistpered.

Lena sent the message to sean , “alright ive got it! Now what do i do?”

Thankfully, the slime didn't have super-hearing and simply went down another tunnel.

As soon as Sean touched the crystal ball, an image of the slime appeared above it.  

"The Hyper Slime has managed to successfully subdue a group of wandering adventurers, proving its combat ability adequate.  However, the combat has no effect on the Hyper Slime's reproductive or information exchange capabilities or lack therefore of...just like every other attempt.  This inability to multiply is hindering the plan, considering that the alternative of making another Hyper Slime will be ingredient-intensive.  Perhaps a second subject needs to be acquired to refine the process..."

"Hmm, so the result seems... Inconclusive..." Rawurrah said. "We should regroup, then follow the slime. Maybe it will lead us to the fighter and their party."
