"Thank you." With how muddy the walls were, rather than start by looking for anything in particular, Peach started with a little housekeeping by scraping the closest bit of mud she can get to.

The firist thing she saw weren’t clues but rather a warning about “shadow creatures” the image on the wall shown they were quite attracted to royalty.

"Shadow creatures... Hmm... Noted..." The skeleton would unlikely be affected by the shadow creatures, but with Peach being royalty being a fact more obvious than elephants in a room, Peach needed to be really cautious. Peach stopped for a moment, then looked behind her. "Huh. Well... Nothing yet..." And Peach went back to scooping mud.

It took a while but she finally found the clues on the wall. However instead of an image they appeared to be in a strange text similar to the ruins from a certain sandbox game. ᚾᛁᚲᛖ ᛒᛟᛟᛏᛋ, ᚺᛟᚹ ᚨᛒᛟᚢᛏ ᚤᛟᚢ ᛏᚱᚤ ᛏᚺᛖ ᚱᚺᚤᛏᚺᛗ ᛈᚢᛉᛉᛚᛖ ᛏᛟ ᛗᚨᚴᛖ ᚢᛋᛖ ᛟᚠ ᛏᚺᛖᛗ.

"Nice boots... How about you try the rhythm puzzle to make use of them..." Peach examined the letters. "Huh... So that's what I'm supposed to do..." Peach stopped where she is. She looked around to see if any shadow creatures are trying to get her yet.

The skeleton pondered then its irises lit up. “Aw yes the rhythm puzzle.” He led her to a giant mayan statue accompanied by two monkeys playing bongos the first one chattered “ ahh ahh oooohh (welcome to the first puzzle you are going to match rhythm of our bongos by stamping your feet even the tiniest mistake will be penalized get 4 penalties and you fail the puzzle).”

"Right." Peach nodded. Yeah, for some reason, the Mario characters can understand animal noises. Just ask Mario Superstar Baseball.

The skeleton shifted its empty irises around. “Right but be warned the shadowlings are known to … sabotage the unlucky victim.”

"Yeah, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for them."

The monkeys explained that a strike from the left hand means peach had to stamp her left foot and vice versa

Peach understood the objective. Sounds simple enough.

The puzzle started simple enough . Right right left right left left. The skeleton looked nervous

So basically it's like Simon where you repeat the pattern. Neat. And so Peach followed... She stamped her right foot, then her right foot again, then her left foot, then her right, then her left, then her left again.

They monkeys played a different pattern but then a shadowling put a tack on the floor. Peach is going to have to cross her feet to avoid stepping on it

Peach wondered if only the foot mattered or if the spot did. But nevertheless, it looked like the tack is where her right foot would stamp. And so, when the pattern required her right foot, she took her right foot and stamped it on the left side.

It didnt matter where to spot mattered she did it correctly. The patterns got harder and tacks plentiful. The skeleton cheered “keep going your on fire!”

With the patterns getting harder and the tacks getting plentiful, Peach's movements looked less like she's paying a game of Simon and more like she's doing a traditional Scottish folk dance as her feet shifted about to both match the pattern and avoid the tacks.

As if the puzzle couldn’t get any harder the shadowlings periodically blinded the monkeys hands with leaves so peach couldn't see which one was playing.

It was at that point where Peach had to use her ears to see which hand was playing. Whenever she heard a sound coming into her right ear, she would interpret that as right, and whenever she heard a sound in her left ear, she'd interpret it as left. And so, based on the sound patterns her ears registered, Peach followed the pattern as such.

Eventually the monkeys hands started to hurt and gave up. The skeleton irises widened “i think you won the first puzzle but can  you handle the next one?”
