Elemental Gauntlet: A Pokemon Roguelike

((I get the feeling you didn't read my last post at all. Here. Please read through it all:

Quote:((Good question, Bound Cat. I think this is a good time to pause your route for some table talk. Admittedly I didn't make skill lists for the Typesuits, which is a fault on my part. You guys are doing pretty decently in improv, coming up with stuff while making sure the improv actions aren't overpowered. I think a good reference would be the move lists available on each Type's Bulbapedia article.

Also, Hisbrain, your character isn't on Opposite Planet. If you were wearing a standard Typesuit, your movement would be fixed at 20 feet.))

((RP cannot be continued, because we need to talk first. But there is no need to talk, because everything is already in the post.
I'm afraid, I don't understand what you want from me.))

((That's what I was wanting to talk about. I said in my post that I didn't come up with movesets; I just played along with your guys' improv (in fact, two of the skill upgrades I've given you are me bouncing off your improv). I was wanting to see if we can pause and see if we can come up with a level playing field and settle on a compromise.

Let's start at the base. Generally, I want you guys to be able to use stronger abilities the higher the tier the Typesuit is, with the lowest tier being the Typesuit I you guys started off in and the highest tier being the Typesuit III, which I was hoping to introduce once you guys beat the fifth level of each run. That's the thing I generally wish to see out of this.

Thing is, how do you guys, as players, want to go about this? Do you peeps want to bounce off Bulbapedia like I suggested? Do you guys want to continue your improv and see if I could balance it out? Do you have any other ideas? I'm open to suggestions.))

((I could still improv))

(We can continue improvising. But I would like to have at least an approximate idea of what our Typesuits are capable of)

((And that's perfectly fine, both of you. I kinda admit the eyecatches I wrote to introduce you guys to your respective Typesuits didn't give you guys too much to work with.

Bound Cat, since you requested it, I'll give you a rundown.

Generally your Typesuits should follow the type matchups in the Pokemon world, which are explained in this video about the types and their respective matchups:

The only exception to these rules is if you specialize in a certain type like, let's say you're Phoebe and you're in a Ghost Typesuit. You should be most attuned to wearing a Typesuit of the type you're specializing in.

As for individual types, I'll go with the types you two are in currently as a starting point.

Bound Cat, you picked the Fairy Type, right? Your abilities should be mystical and magical in nature like a fairy. You may exude a certain charm with your character's Typesuit. Since fairies tend to be variable in media outside of Pokemon, Fairy Type is one of the types that are harder to explain without materials, so I recommend checking out the MandJTV video to try and get some better insight on it.

Hisbrain, you picked the Grass Type, it seems. Your abilities should revolve around plants and plantlike abilities. Think like Poison Ivy from DC Comics and such.

((I was guided mainly by the color of the costume, otherwise I would have chosen some simpler element.
Well, let's try to continue.))

((Yeah, there are some tough elements in the mix. I still struggle to pinpoint the effects of the Dragon Typesuit myself. Anyway, I agree, we should try and continue.))

With your upgrades done, it is time to proceed. Three new doors popped up.

A beige door with the Normal Type symbol and a green star
A pink door with the Psychic Type symbol and a green star
A smoky purple door with the Ghost Type symbol and a blue star

Is there anything else I can help you with?"
"Ah, can i use any psychic move or are there some limitations? and what happens if i lose?"

"There are some limitations. What you and I are wearing are on Typesuit Is. All runners start with Typesuit Is by default. At this stage, your moves and abilities are at their weakest, but as you evolve your Typesuit, it will get more powerful and you may get new abilities. As for losing... Well, simple. You basically 'white out' and get sent back here. Is there anything else I can help you out with?"

“Normal should be easy those typsuits do nothing lets go.”

- "Mmpph?" - Masha nodded towards the door with the symbol of the psychic type and looked questioningly at Lena.

“Psychic is a strong type we might get our asses kicked”.

“But before the upgrade, you wanted to go there” Masha thought to herself.
In that case… She nodded questioningly at the door with the Normal Type symbol

“Well. Then let's start with something simpler. This door seems to be the least dangerous" - Masha mentally said to her companion and resolutely stepped through the door with the Normal Type symbol

Okay, you go through the Normal-type door.

As it is a green star, it'll be an intelligence deal. Fair warning, I'm not good at making puzzles.

You come across three Poke Ball plushies that are the size of a Pikachu. They each have a different design: a Luxury Ball, a Dive Ball, and a Quick Ball. There are also three platforms in the area.

Your task? You see a sign in the room that says "Order the Poke Balls by catch rate."

You peer through the entrance. From where you stand, you see two of the four gates: Grass and Fire. You should go down the hall to see all four gates.

Oli hops down the hall to see the other gates as well, pondering a bit before eventually deciding to go to the water type gate thinking that normal and fire types are usually very offensive while water and grass are more defensive and water types tend to not have the passive damage that grass types do. this will give her maximum chances to figure out exactly what she is capable of.

Masha wasn't too well versed in the intricacies of the Pokemon world, so she approached the pokeballs and chose the one that seemed more likeable to her. It was a Luxury ball. The girl didn't know what to do with it, so first she gently touched it with her foot.
