Scouting Sorties: Target Slime

"Right!" Rawurrah kept the spell going. Only when both Sean and Lena get a reasonable distance from the slime did she start running with them.

Eventually when the three left the cave, lena used her cards to use rocks to block the caves exit.

((Dude, that's a little much..! You had your characters carrying people around..! What if the slime catches up?))

"And that's what happened?  The previous party was captured by the slime, which might not be a normal slime and still alive?"  Scout had pressed the party for a recounting of their venture after they returned to the tavern, nearly empty at this hour.  The two "prizes" that were wiggling on the counter were proof of that tale.  Scout leaned on one of the balled adventurers as she addressed the group.  "Well, after I draft a response to the guild, I'll see what I can wrangle for doing this request.  If you have time, see if you can get these gals out."

"Right then." Rawurrah looked over the slimed people. "Hmm... Well, okay... viscous liquid... Made with Gummi Tree material, so it's gonna be rubbery... So, if I can make this stuff brittle..." Rawurrah brought her staff over one of the bodies, casting a heat spell over the goop in hopes to make the liquid brittle enough to just peel off.

Nope, the fire didn't melt or make the slime brittle, but it seems to make the slime comfortably warm.

((Meanwhile, Scout went to to back of the tavern so she can make that report, so go wild.))

"Huh... That didn't work..." Rawurrah stopped the spell. "Okay, let's try freezing the stuff. Everything has to go solid." Rawurrah then started casting an ice spell on the slime.

((Hopefully that would actually work; have you ever put Jello in a freezer?))

Sean was still tired from the run, lena was also exhausted , she wrote down. “THAT MUST HE THE FIGHTER AND HER PARTY.”

A stillness...then one of the girls kicked her way out of the frozen cocoon.  Her fighter equipment didn't cover much of her but that didn't matter as she shook the other cocoon.  "What is up with you!?"

Scout returned at the sound of the commotion.  "And what is up exactly?"

...As it turns out, the other cocoon contained another party member in the form of an artificer, and she had created the Hyper Slime.  However, it wasn't created as a plot of evil but simply because the artificer just liked the feeling of being caught by such a creature, and she had invited her party to experience the joy without warning them.  "Is it wrong to enjoy what you want and to share that joy?"

Scout couldn't really follow the artificer's logic, though seeing that the fighter had seem to calm down and not hold the artificer in contempt, Scout turned to the rescue party.  "What's your take on this?"

Rawurrah raised an eyebrow. "But why? They had to put up a bounty board over that creature." Rawurrah pointed to the bounty board from earlier.

The artificer shrugged.  "Maybe it's a different slime?"  

The fighter slapped the artificer on the back of her head.  "How many slime quests were there?  Also, what would have happened if that slime was killed?"

"Well, if the slime couldn't release us and we weren't found, we'd probably be stuck there for a long time."  The artificer had happy thoughts about that situation, but fearing another slap, she threw herself to the ground.  "Ah, I'm sorry for causing trouble.  To make it up to our brave rescuers, I'll let you have a turn with the slime!"

Sean has his eyes widened. “A turn with the slime? What do you mean by that?”

"I pass," Rawurrah replied. "I needed Sobek's blessing of strength just to do anything to that slime. It's way above my pay grade, I'm afraid."

“Ill pass too, i just realized i left my cloak there but im not going back in there.” Sean declared.

Lena wrote down, “OK THEN ILL GO MYSELF IT COULD BE FUN.”

"Mystic, that's not a very good idea. Those mines are huge; what if something that would rip you to shreds finds you?"

“MEH…IM WELL PROTECTED IF SOEMTHING WERE TO HAPPEN TO ME ID LET SEAN KNOW.”

“Yeah… then id just come and get her, since im a thief i have smoke bombs on hand.”

The fighter grabbed the artificer.  "Please don't think about it too much.  We'll have to go grab our other two members and figure out what to do with that slime.  Hopefully things would work out peacefully."

And the fighter dragged the artificer out of the tavern.  Scout shrugged as she crumbled up the report, figuring that things would resolve itself.  "Well, "

As Leah tagged along with the party back into the mine network, they eventually found the Hyper Slime.  The fighter had went further in to retrieve the cocoons as the artificer said some cooing words to her slime to make it behave.  After all, the duo had come to a compromise that the artificer can keep the slime but only if it was shrunken down to size.  The artificer dug through the crate of ingredients to make a new concoction, making some idle chatter with Leah.  "There's a chance that the slime wouldn't be as sticky after I shrink it down.  So if you want, you can experience what we went through.  And since you already proved that the cocoons can be removed outside of having the Hyper Slime removing them, you won't be limited by time."

Lena nodded then wrote “SURE. BUT ARE YOU SURE ITS SAFE?”
