"They say that humans feared us.  They say that humans looked down at us."  Devonn growled as the girls dared to mock him.  As the collars and punch hit him, he pinned Julia down with his staff and then threw off his cloak, revealing a wing and a half on his back.  "Lilith says to show humans mercy..."

He jumped away from the girl and shot some more fireballs. Then he flapped his wings, the winds causing the fireballs split and spread out.  "So die give up for her sake!"

Is it me, or did that magic attack that hit me feel physical rather than ethereal?

"I don't see how that could be," Ella said, ducking. "If anything, I don't know how long you guys have been down here, and yet you managed to get working non-brick cell phones." Ella got up. "Plus it's not every day I see magic; it hardly happens as a matter of fact. I've only known, like, one girl legit capable of such, and she spends most of her time meditating and reading tea leaves back in the surface. Dunno about myself, though; I have allured many animals with my song, but I wasn't aware that they were robots."

((And what happens if the fireball hits the character? Does this mean instant death or injury?))

Harley walked up to Ella and spoke in a demanding voice. "Well maybe in this world you can use your music as a means for an attack."

But she refused. Ella glared at Harley. She really does not want to hurt anyone.

"can we figure this out later and not while someone is trying to kill us?!" April couldn't help but yell out at the others, continuing to circle around to grab the collars and throw them again, while seeing how close she could get to door, either to distract him from the others, or to try and open it once again, not that she was free.

A few fireballs struck Julia and Ella. It did not burn or hurt them, but instead brought them down to their knees as if a heavy weight was thrust upon them.

"And it is by human magic we are sealed here. It keeps our kind in..." Devonn scoffed. He was about to attack but saw April trying to reach the door. Instead, he conjured a wall to push Hannah away from it. "It keeps our kind in and it has not weakened."

"Hnngh..." Ella tried getting up with her own strength and willpower. "Have you... Found a way... to break the seal yet..?"

"oh come on!" April groaned, jumping back from the summoned wall, turning her attention back from Devonn. deciding to change her tactics, she continued to circle around and grab the collars to throw them again to not seem suspicious or clue him in, only this time she carefully made her way over to his knapsack, aiming to swipe a few active collars, if he still had any.

"The Hornkin could not, but the humans that fell in before you...they could but not alone.  Before, they were treated with kindness and escorted to the barrier, and we hoped...Really?"  Devonn re-conjured the wall to bounce April away from the knapsack, a bit annoyed.  "We hoped they would call upon others to release the seal.  Now, the Queen gathers them for a plan."

"I see... Hnngh..! So your people sought... assistance from humans who came here." Ella still strained to get up. "Yet, your queen... Seeks humans for... Something else..." Ella still strained. "The desire to... Get free through... Means you wouldn't normally resort to... Does that... Fill you with... Determination?"

"not this time!" April yelped, diving for the knapsack as she jumped over the forming wall, nearly getting smacked in the stomach as it rose from the ground, choosing to grab the entire bag and look through it later as she frantically threw it over her shoulder and headed back to the others, hoping to get out of the range of his magic.

Harley whispered to ella "i know , i dont want to fight too maybe we can act" she noticed April going to the knapsack but decided not to say anything.

((She's already going for that option. Interesting how she's managing to hold a conversation with Devonn, really.))

- "You lousy goat!!" - Julia growled through clenched teeth and tried to get to her feet, overcoming the weight that had fallen on her.
- "I won't lose to the first monster I meet"

What April would find in the knapsack is a half-eaten sandwich, a woven doll, and a folded scythe...but a distinct lack of any more restraints.

"...This fight is pointless. I had planned to put a little fear to make you stay on this side, but that won't work anymore." Knowing his bluff was up, Devonn vanished his staff and the soul wall. "If I haven't made it clear, the Queen and a number of Hornkins will not be as forgiving as me should you continue past these gates."

With the soul magic quelled, Ella stood back up. "I wouldn't worry too much about that," Ella said with a smile. "Maybe if I show them who I am, and that not all humans are bad, then I'm sure they'll turn up. That is a risk I'm willing to take."

Harley stood next to the princess her heart beaming with pacifism. "Right we will prove ourselves without fighting."

"come on seriously?" April groaned, setting the bag down as she began to dig through it to see if there was anything else. "a sandwich ... a scythe and ... a doll?" she mumble to herself, pulling out the doll curiously, looking it over as she held up the scythe for Devonn to see. "nothing useful huh?"
